Our Pens

The pens have been built to conform to the highest standards ie those of the Feline Advisory Board (FAB). In many ways we have gone further than these standards eg by providing an insulated brick structure to the majority of the buildings - providing extra weather protection and security.

We have 17 pens in total. 9 are Standard Pens that can accommodate 2 cats from the same family. A further 5 pens are Family Pens that can accommodate up to 4 cats from the same family. Uniquely, we even have 2 Extra Large Pens that can accommodate up to 6 cats. Finally, there is an isolation pen, located away from the other cats but still close enough to ensure any poorly cats are carefully watched and cared for. 

Each pen is spacious and allows your cat plenty of room to run and play in their outside run before retiring to an insulated and cosily-heated chalet. Each chalet has its own thermostic control to ensure your cat is kept warm and snug.

The pens have been designed with 2-foot gaps between them, so ensuring cats are free from directly contracting any diseases from other guests but still allowing them to interact with other cats. Furthermore, the gaps allow plenty of circulation which is vital in helping combat disease.

Cleanliness

We see providing absolute cleanliness as essential. Our rigorous cleaning regime means your cat will be able to relax in their chalet free from the risk of disease, dirt and smells. We will not compromise when it comes to ensuring a spotlessly clean environment and welcome you to visit anytime to check on our standards.

Every day starts with each litter tray being examined, emptied and thoroughly cleaned. The trays are regularly examined throughout the day and the cleaning process repeated as and when required. As part of our night time inspection we ensure that our guests always settle down for the night with clean trays.

Each pen is cleaned prior to arrival using TriGene and piping hot water. The pens are scrubbed (taking at least an hour for each pen) from top to bottom and ventilated in readiness for new guests. During colder weather, we ensure the pens are pre-heated for the arrival of your cat.

We also give each and every pen a good clean every morning so your cat can spend the rest of the day relaxing.

Stimulating Environment

We have had the environment professionally designed in order to ensure our guests enjoy an environment that stimulates all their senses. The garden the cats all look out onto has been designed with an array of colour, movement, relaxing noises and even exciting smells. We have a pond with a fountain that further ensures a relaxing and tranquil atmosphere.

We have also ensured that there is plenty for the cats to watch by encouraging local wildlife – particularly birds (another of Liane’s passions).

We provide, free of charge, a number of exciting toys for each of our guests. Furthermore, we will spend time playing with your cats (if they want us to!) and won’t deny them the human contact they are used to. Obviously, feel free to bring your own toys should you wish. 

Bedding

All our guests will be provided with a bed that is lined with the best quality bedding available on the market. We only use Vetbed ‘Gold’ which has been designed to be luxuriously thick. It contains Permafrsh fibre which continually releases molecules that work against bacteria and fungi.

You are free to provide your own bed should you so wish.
